Founded by award-winning radio-jockey, TV journalist and podcast host Vasanthi Hariprakash, Pickle Jar has been telling stories of a changing India via podcasts, web-series and curated events.

In 2016, Pickle Jar opened its doors with a mission to raise and present the many unheard and underrepresented stories, giving those voices a platform to be heard and appreciated in the form of news, literature, cinema and art. By gathering individuals from different backgrounds and nationalities, Pickle Jar has become a refuge where not just the stories and lives of individuals can be shared, but also a place where a community of people can listen and understand each other.

For bringing the voices of the marginalised through her on-ground reporting in Pickle Jar Poll Express, Vasanthi was given the UNFPA backed Laadli award for Gender Sensitivity in journalism in 2020.

It’s been a great pleasure for us to have been associated with Vasanthi Hariprakash of Pickle Jar, who has been the official host for the Manipal podcasts: The White Coat World and Up, Close and Medical.
She has been a great anchor and thanks to her style of interviews and rapport with the guests, the podcast is very lively, thoroughly enjoyable, interesting and informative. Vasanthi has done a remarkable job in bringing out a one-of-a-kind medical podcast.

Dr. H. Sudarshan Ballal

Medical Director of Manipal Hospitals, Chairman of the Medical Advisory Board

Our association with Pickle Jar on various initiatives over the past three years, involving accessibility for persons with disabilities, has been very productive and satisfying. Their dedicated and committed team of professionals have helped us in producing audio content which can improve the learning process for young children with visual impairment. In all our interactions till now, we have found the Pickle Jar team highly receptive and appreciative of our myriad needs and always willing to go the extra mile in ensuring a high-quality output.

Prof. Amit Prakash

Associate Professor and Convenor, Centre for Accessibility in the Global South, IIIT Bangalore

As the name suggests so piquantly, Pickle Jar curates a variety of media ideas — sharply produced journalistic pieces, curated events such as successful film festivals, virtual conferences, blogs/vlogs/podcasts, and community building events. This is one venture to look out for given Vasanthi’s relentless drive and ability to accomplish her objectives. I wish team Pickle Jar the very best!
